How the Compatibility System Works
The Umamusume compatibility system calculates affinity points based on the relationships between your main character,
legacies, and sub-legacies. Understanding how these points are calculated helps you optimize your team composition
for maximum compatibility scores.
Understanding Affinity Points
Affinity points are awarded when characters share certain relationships or characteristics. The compatibility
calculator adds up points from multiple sources:
-
Main Character ↔ Legacy: Points are awarded based on the relationship between your main
character and each legacy character. Characters from the same race group or with shared history earn more points.
-
Sub-Legacy Lines: Each sub-legacy contributes points based on its relationship with its
parent legacy. Sub-legacies that share race groups or characteristics with their legacy earn bonus points.
-
Legacy ↔ Legacy: The two legacy characters also have compatibility with each other.
Matching legacies from the same race groups can significantly boost your total score.
-
Race Matching: Characters who participated in the same real-life races earn additional
compatibility points. This is why selecting characters with shared race history is so important.
Compatibility Ratings
Your total affinity score determines your compatibility rating:
-
◎ Great Compatibility (151+ points): Excellent compatibility! Your team composition
has strong relationships and shared race history. This is ideal for optimal performance.
-
〇 Good Compatibility (100-150 points): Good compatibility with decent relationships.
Your team should perform well, though there's room for optimization.
-
△ Poor Compatibility (Below 100 points): Low compatibility indicates weak relationships
between characters. Consider adjusting your team composition for better results.
How to Use the Calculator
-
Select Your Main Character: Click on the main character slot and choose the Umamusume
you want to train. This is your primary character for the build.
-
Choose Your Legacies: Select two legacy characters. These represent the parent lineages
that influence your main character's training. Try to pick legacies that have good compatibility with
your main character.
-
Assign Sub-Legacies: For each legacy, select two sub-legacy characters. These represent
the deeper lineage branches. Sub-legacies should complement their parent legacy and ideally share race
groups or characteristics.
-
Review Your Score: Once all slots are filled, the calculator automatically displays
your total affinity score and compatibility rating. You'll also see a detailed breakdown showing how many
points each relationship contributes.
-
Optimize Your Setup: Experiment with different character combinations to find the highest
compatibility score. The calculator updates in real-time as you make changes, making it easy to compare
different setups.
Tips for Maximum Compatibility
-
Match Race Groups: Characters who participated in the same real-life races have higher
compatibility. Look for characters with shared race history.
-
Consider Character Groups: Some characters belong to groups (like the "Three Crowns" or
"Miracle Mile") that boost compatibility when used together.
-
Balance Your Setup: While maximizing compatibility is important, also consider each
character's stats and skills. A slightly lower compatibility score might be worth it if the characters
provide better stat bonuses or skills.
-
Use the Main Character Preview: When you've selected legacies and sub-legacies, the
main character selection modal will show compatibility points for each potential main character, helping
you find the best match.
-
Share Your Setup: The calculator saves your selections in the URL, making it easy to
share your compatibility setup with others or bookmark it for later.
